The inventor and founder of the Phone System was never a Nobel laureate. When the phone was commercially invented in l876- well, the Nobel prize did not exist. It should be noted Edison and Tesla were considered for a joint Nobel award but it did not go off as the two inventors were bitter rivals and had opposite orientations in many ways- they were not a team, so to speak, so a joint award well, would be Ac-DC. ( Tesla favored Ac, and Edison, for some applications- Direct Current ( there were Edison patents on Batteries- which are of necessity- DC)
