To time the car - get the car to operating temp, open the little black box on the passenger side of the engine compartment. (this will be just to the left of the upper strut bolt (side closest to the firewall)if you are standing on the left side of the car. place a copper jumper wire in the in slots labeled "TE1" and "E1". this will set the car to base timing. using a timing light time the car to 10 degrees before top dead center. To make timing adjustments you must loosen ("do not remove" - do this with the car not running) the two bolts holding the distributor. restart the car and rotate the distributor slightly to make a change in the timing. Once the timing is set, shut off the car and retighten both bolts.
