I would recommend that you change your stock coilovers with after market parts such as Eibach Sportline Lowering Springs and KYB Adjustable Shocks. i have these in my 2000 z28 and it rides very smooth. the car rebounds very well keeping the tires on the ground providing extra traction during those 'high speed turns'. the total price could be about 600-700 dollars buts really worth it. for better stopping power i use EBC rotors and Brake pads 'The Green Stuff'
