China has 9-year compulsory education, all children must attend from 6 to 15.That's primary school and junior high school . As for senior high school and college, They are not compulsory.

Mainly boys got education, sometimes as scribes or warriors. Girls stayed home and did chores and learned how to take care of a good household.
Children mainly travel to schools by foot, by bike and by bus. Most schools in China don't have school bus to pick up the children.

Much the same way as children anywhere, with video games, books and toys. The only difference is they have less time for entertainment than western children. In China the emphasis is on education and after regular school most children attend extra classes in music, dancing, singing, drama or foreign languages. Many even have coaching to improve their command of Mandarin or maths.
