Father Louis Hennepin became the first European to write of the falls in a book describing his travels to the New World in 1678. But it has been there about 12,000 years.
It's Niagara falls, not "Niagara's Falls", so-called because they're on the Niagara River. It's apparently named after a local Indian tribe, the Niagagarega.
Niagara Falls was established by Governor David B. Hill in 1885.
A Jesuit explorer named Gabriel Lalemant.

When the American falls were de-watered in 1969, the construction men found the carcass of a deer, but obviously it wandered too far into the current. When Niagara falls was first discovered, explorers reported seeing eels squirming amongst the rocks at the base of the falls. Mostly, I think any animals found to have gone over the falls simply got in there by getting too close, although a seal from Marineland (about a mile away from Niagara falls in Canada) escaped and went over the falls 3 times and survived each time.A:Yes, raccoons, squirrels, deer (in outlying areas).
why dont you go there and find out, I would but I am in the middle of an IT lesson. :)
Niagara Falls has earned a grisly reputation as the suicide capital of the U.S., second only to San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge. Experts estimate there are between 20 to 25 suicides at the Falls each year. In 1996, local historian Paul Gromosiak compiled a list of 2,780 known suicides at the site between 1856 and 1995. It became so prolific that in 1991 the American Journal of Public Health commissioned a full report. It found 60 people killed themselves from the Falls between 1978 and 1988. Of those, 59 per cent were men and 41 per cent were women. The average age for women was 38, and for men it was 39. According to local newspaper the Niagara Falls Reporter, Memorial Day 'traditionally marks the beginning of the suicide season'.
