Sun always stays in the same position. The moon phases change only in relation to the moon's position as it orbits around the Earth. Full moon is when the moon is furthest away from the sun, or more or less in a line with sun and moon being at the ends and Earth in between.

If we earthlings see the Moon in the 1st quarter phase, then the Loonies living on///in the Moon would see the Earth in 3rd quarter phase.

The real difference would be that from the Earth, the Moon appears to move across the sky, but as seen from the Moon, the Earth would appear to hover almost motionless in the Lunar sky. When we go to the Moon and build colonies, the apartments and hotels with an Earth view will be like apartments in Hawaii with an ocean view; much more desirable than the ones without.

If an observer on earth sees the moon at Last Quarter, then an observer on the moon

sees the earth at First Quarter.

The shape of the moon that the earthbound observer sees, added to the shape of the

earth that a moonbound observer sees, always adds up exactly to a full disk.

Note:

From any point on earth, the moon is in your sky for roughly 12hours 50minutes,

on the average, out of every 24 hours.

On the moon, however, if you're anywhere on about 52% of the moon, then the earth

is always in your sky. But if you're anywhere on the other 48% of the moon, then the

earth is never in your sky.

The phase of Earth as seen from the moon is always exactly

what you need to add to the moon's phase in order to make

a complete circle. You might call the two of them 'conjugate'

or 'complimentary'.

Moon phase . . . . . . . . . Earth phase

Full Moon . . . . . . . . . . . . New Earth (L)

New Moon . . . . . . . . . . . . Full Earth (D)

First Quarter Moon . . . . . . Third Quarter Earth

Waxing Crescent Moon . . . . Waning Gibbous Earth

Waning Gibbous . . . . . . . . . Waxing Crescent earth

Note 1:

(L) You must be on the light side of the moon to see New Earth

(D) You must be on the dark side of the moon to see Full Earth

Note 2:

In order to see ANY phase of Earth, you must be on the side

of the moon that's visible from Earth.

If you are anywhere on the moon that people on Earth can't see,

then you have never seen the Earth.

Sun, Moon and Earth are all in a line in that order.

It does not happen annually, but if you mean an annular eclipse, that is a solar eclipse that happens when the Moon is at its greatest distance from Earth, so that it appears too small to block the Sun completely.

For that to happen it has to be a New Moon with the Moon at one of the nodes of its orbit (i.e. when it crosses the ecliptic), which is the condition for a solar eclipse, but at the same time it also has to be near Apogee (i.e. when it is furthest from the Earth. So annular eclipses are a relatively rare subset of solar eclipses.

The moon's angle from the earth is +/- 45 degrees offset from the sun's angle.

On a new moon, the moon is located between the earth and sun.

A half moon, the sun, earth, and moon make a 90 degree angle (a right angle).

A quarter moon is between a new and a half moon, so it would look something like:

E

3rd Quarter. From the vantage point of the Moon, Earth's phases would be the exact opposite of the phases of the Moon as seen from Earth.

So, during the New Moon, Earth would be Full. When the Moon is waxing, the Earth would be waning.

form a right angle, with the earth at the vertex.

If seen from the Moon, it would have the opposite phase - in this case, "new Earth".

In which direction and around what time of day does a first quarter Moon rise?

A first quarter moon is 90 degrees from the earth and the sun. Therefore, it rises around noon. Last quarter moons are also at 90 degrees, but the 'other' 90 degrees, 180 degrees from the first quarter position. So last quarter moons rise around midnight. The moon always rises in the east.
