Bah, humbug
Bah, Humbug
Scrooge's gravestone in the story "A Christmas Carol" reads, "Ebenezer Scrooge" followed by the reference to his famous phrase, "He lived in repentance and died in joy."
It is equivalent to the English phrase "Of course" when agreeing with someone as in, "Of course, you're right!" It literally translates as "by/for suppose"
Initially, Scrooge did not feel positively about giving his clerk, Bob Cratchit, the day off for Christmas. He was reluctant, grumpy, and saw it as a waste of money. However, after his encounters with the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come, he had a change of heart and became more generous and compassionate towards Bob Cratchit.
That would be "bah, humbug."
