We talked about this in my Philosophy class, it is a direct reference to Plato's analogy of the cave. Basically, people have been kept in a cave for their whole life with chains around their necks being forced by some puppeteers to believe their lies. Because they have been there since birth they believe them. One prisoner is set free, at first he hates the thought that all he believed and knew was wrong, but when he comes out of the cave he sees nature, people, the night sky and the sun. He decides to return to the cave to convince other prisoners to join him in reality but they all think he's mad. In the end he is left with three options - live alone in reality, return to his chains and know that he's living a lie or continue to try to convince them and eventually be killed because they think he has gone mental. If you read through the lyrics you'll be able to see the references, in the end of the song he has chosen option one. (It goes deeper though, if you study philosophy you learn metaphors in Plato's analogy that are brought through in the song 'Walk away from all the fears', 'I know the shame in your defeat', 'noose around your neck', 'now let me at the truth', 'walking on your hands' and the whole verse 'so tie me to a post... Despite my growing fears' are his three options)
It's empty in the valley of your heart
The sun it rises slowly as you walk
Away from all the fears and all the faults you've left behind.
The harvest left no food for you to eat
You cannibal, you meat-eater you see
But I have seen the same I know the shame in your defeat.
But I will hold on hope and
I won't let you choke on the noose around your neck
And I'll find strength in pain and
I will change my ways,
I'll know my name as it's called again
Cause I have other things to fill my time
You take what is yours and I'll take mine
Now let me at the truth which will refresh my broken mind
So tie me to a post and block my ears
I can see widows and orphans through my tears
I know my call despite my faults and despite my growing fears
Chorus
So come out of your cave walking on your hands
And see the world hanging upside down
You can understand dependence when you know their maker's land
So make your sirens call and sing all you want
I will not hear what you have to say
Cause I need freedom now and
I need to know how
To live my life as it's meant to be
Chorus
People think it has to mean various reasons. Some believe its about a relationship, other about a struggle over addiction. It's what you think it to be.

Poetic justice in "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" occurs when characters receive consequences that are fitting and ironic based on their actions. For example, Tom suffers consequences for lying or tricking others, while Injun Joe meets his demise in a cave he intended to use for evil purposes.
Maybe yes, maybe no, Noah and his people were cave dwellers at one time. The book of Genesis was silent about the lodgings of Noah and his people before the great flood. But afterwards, Genesis 9:21 identified them as tent dwellers.
Caves are cataloged by people affiliated with speleological organizations. Often in a remote area with numerous caves, the people cataloging the caves are unsure if a cave is correctly identified. The cave could be one cave with 2 different names, or the survey data doesn't match the description of the cave. The cave location could have become forgotten, or the cave became covered up with vegetation or a cement, etc. Once the caves in an area have been fully explored and mapped and catalogued, the next best place to find a new cave is to go look at the list of "unconfirmed caves." Often it is more common to hear an explorer say, "we have a lead on a cave." meaning there is an unconfirmed cave in the area he or she is looking.
The world's largest cave to date has recently been identified. And it's in Vietnam. The Son Doong Cave, located in Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park runs 2.5 miles long, and can get as high as 600 feet, that's nearly twice as the now, second largest cave in the world, Deer Cave in Malaysia
