Politically, all the politicians are in great danger and war is the leading cause of death and is a great health hazard. Secondly, if all the people are dead, there would be no one left to argue incessantly over politics, which would lead to eventual collapse of politics since politics is founded upon people arguing incessantly.

Socially, all people die. No more society.

Economically though, civil war is actually good for the economy! this is because there would be no more economy after a while, which is good for it.

The American Civil War was the most deadly and arguably the most important event in the nation's history. Sectional tensions enshrined in the Constitution erupted into a brutal war that cost over 600,000 lives and cleaved a nation in two. Slavery was a root cause of the conflict, and while the Thirteenth Amendment ended the practice, race relations continued to dominate American politics and society well into the future. The war also increased American economic power until it rivaled, and then surpassed, that of all other countries. And following the war, Americans had a new sense of being a part of a single nation instead of a conglomerate of states with their own institutions and histories.

Northern businesses expanded during the war, and were even more dominant over the ruined Southern economy. Reconstruction did not provide enough impetus for the rebuilding, although massive investments had to be made to restore the infrastructure destroyed during the war.

What were the social and political effects of the Civil War?

I can't speak for everyone but in my opinion there were two major social effects brought about by the Civil War. One was the beginning of the struggle for civil rights and equality for African Americans along side the opportunity to mend and bring about a more perfect Union which is still being fought today. The other is that the Civil War made the United States a unified Nation. That is One Nation. No north, no south no State sovereignty. We are now and have been ever since The United States of America. The Political effects were the same as with most major events in history and I think even more so today. I see the exposure of these events, the fallen and the social effects used for political purposes that serve politicians and their constituencies. For example, even Abraham Lincoln used the outcome of Antietam to make his case for the Union through the Emancipation Proclamation, which he tactically waited to do until a Union victory was made. Although Lincoln was opposed to slavery, he used the Emancipation Proclamation politically to garner support for the Union cause.
