Rutherford B. Hayes, the 19th President of the United States introduced the Easter egg roll (or, more appropriately, the first lady, Lucy Ware Webb Hayes). It has been a White House tradition since 1878.

∙ 15y agoThe White House Easter Egg Roll started in 1878. So 2009 will be the 131st Anniversary and also the first time ever that you can actually book a ticket online. The event will be held on Monday April 13th 2009, from 8am - 5pm on the South Lawn of the White House.
