What does Dorthy have to do in the Wizard of Oz?

Towards the end of the film, following the balloon inicdent Dorothy finds herself awake in her bedroom at home. the entire episode was, in layman"s terms, a Nightmare. This plot resolution automatically would preclude a sequel as the thing never happened outside fantasy land.

The Good Witch of the North (Glinda, the good witch of the south in the movie) sends Dorothy to the Emerald City to ask the Wizard to send her home. The Wizard then sends Dorothy to kill the Wicked Witch of the West. After the Wizard's hot air balloon leaves without her, Dorothy must go to see Glinda, the Good Witch of the South, to find another way to return home.

The main problem that Dorothy faced was getting back hometo Kansas. But other problems were finding this magical world of her adventures to be surrounded by a deadly desert that even the Winged Monkeys couldn't cross; getting to the Emerald City, to meet with the Wizard of Oz; destroying the Wicked Witch of the West; losing her way back to the Emerald City, from the Wicked Witch of the West's castle; realizing that the Wizard of Oz was a humbug; missing her chance to leave by hot air balloon; and getting to the land of the Quadlings, to seek help from Glinda the Good Witch of the North.

In the movie, Dorothy is knocked out when the tornado knocks a window shade into her head, and she collapses into bed and starts dreaming.
