You don't, if you start playing for a local team or learning then if you become good they promote you. then you might start to play for the county trials or a proper match! and then one day who knows! you could be famous!!!

A Referee should:

Have had experience at successfully refereeing a similar level of tournament

Have a comprehensive knowledge of the Regulations and Laws of Badminton

Be an integral part of the management team

Be a decision maker

Be able to interact effectively with coaches, players, parents and umpires on the day

Be a member of the Referees Register

Ensure fair play

To become a Badminton official, you have to join the club and be an active participant. The knowledge of the game is also key.
