The headlight relay on a 1996 Ford Thunderbird is in the fuse box on the driver's side of the dash. The fuse box can be accessed by opening the driver's door and removing the small door on the side of the dash. The headlight relay is the same one as for the battery.

If you can't fit your hand between the headlight and the fuse box to unscrew the bulb, take off the bolts at the top and bottom and the entire headlight unit will come out.
The headlight relays are just behind the driver's side headlight, attached to a plastic black divider, that goes from the rear of the driver's headlight to the air intake box. You'll see the two relays each sheathed in a rubber skin attached to this plastic divider on the fender side.

There is no fuse, just a relay. On the w126, it's located on the driver's side fender well between the shock strut and the headlight assembly.
the relay can be found around the engine bay if not there try under the drivers side steering wheel inside the colum trim or under neath near the driver side door. hope that helps.
Behind the bumper under the headlight on the driver side you will see the relay pull it out and get another one and put it in. Its like a big fuse with 5 connectors.

Under the driver side headlight
1) The headlight lamps are both blown. I had one blow out one day and the other blew out the following day. This WILL HAPPEN when the first one goes! 2) Check your fuses & possibly relay. One box is behind the little storage drawer on far left driver side & the other box is under the hood driver side. Swap the relay out with another of the same relay in the box. See if it works before buying one.
