Anne practiced Catholicism, but was very interested in what the Reformers were doing. According to some accounts, she had many proscribed books in her possession when she returned from France(Henry had declared all Reformer writings to be illegal in England), as well as an English translation of The Bible
No she was protestant! <-- yeah that guy is right
if she was married to Henry 8th then she would follow his religion so she would be protestant? or she was catholic before she married Henry then she turned protestant...
Henry VIII was not protestant. This is evident in the six articles. They may have been possibilites of protestant leanings, but the six articles included no protestant beliefs.
Politics. Prior to Henry VIII desiring to set aside his first good Catholic wife, there was very little choice for an Englishman's daughter. Everyone was Catholic. Then Henry was unhappy with the Pope and the power and riches of the church so he created his very own Church of England and installed himself as its most high and holy leader. Of course it was then easy for him to wed, bed and behead as many wives as his age and gout would allow.
Anne, was raised to become someone's wife. The more the important her husband the better for her family. She was "finished" in the French court and practiced as much Catholisism as any other person in the totally decadent and debauched French court. After Henry established his very own church and married Anne, she practiced whatever religion he told her to. I think it fair to say, Anne Boleyn's most religious pursuit was a climb in political rank and wealth followed by a fervent desire to keep her head.
