The reaction is:
Ca(OH)2 + CO2 = CaCO3 + H2O
A solution is treated with a chemical which react with one of the components forming a precipitate; the separation is possible after this by filtration.
APEX: A compound that doesnt disolve in water
simply it breaks out due to forming of carbon dioxide in the gaps if it takes place in an close atmosphere with high pressure than turns into marble.
For solutions of ionic compounds in water, the formation of a precipitate can be predicted by noting the concentrations of each kind of ions present in the solution after it is prepared. If the solubility product constant of any possible ionic compound-forming combination of these ions is exceeded, a precipitate will eventually form. If not, no precipitate will form.
a precipitate (aqueous -> solid) must be forming
Carbon dioxide
Chemical weathering processes are particularly effective on limestone landscapes forming because of carbonation. When rainwater combines with acid in the air, limestone is formed.
- forming a homogeneous solution- forming a precipitate by chemical reaction- sedimentation of an insoluble phase, without chemical reaction
Carbon dioxide dissolves in water forming carbonic acid H2CO3, a weak acid that slowly erodes the limestone.
Calcite is a carbonate mineral with the chemical formula CaCO3, which is a major rock forming mineral, particularly of limestone.
A solution is treated with a chemical which react with one of the components forming a precipitate; the separation is possible after this by filtration.
Limestone loses mass when heated because of a chemical change: the gas carbon dioxide (CO2) is released by a chemical process when the rock is heated. The heat turns some of the calcium carbonate of the limestone into calcium oxide (quicklime) and carbon dioxide.
3 stages: 1st, dissolve 2nd, react with the desired result forming chemical 3rd, precipitate
No it is not. Limestone itself is not a solution. Limestone is a rock which is primarily calcium carbonate as are marble and chalk. Calcium carbonate will react with water if the water contains dissolved Carbon Dioxide (forming a mild carbonic acid) resulting in Calcium Bicarbonate which is soluble and does form solution in water.
its value changes ,get new substance and the product doesn't remain the same after chemical reaction
