That depends on the scientist. If it is one that is trained in the West, they will tend to look at health as the absence of disease. So, they will try and find what they can give a person to make them have less signs and symptoms of the illness. If they are trained in the East, they will prefer to look also at lifestyle factors and a person's constitution, or their general personality. In doing that, they will look for what things the person should avoid before recommending what to take, usually diet and exercise changes. Which one is better? They both are, depending on what you have that ails you
