How do you draw a shooting star?

A shooting star is a meteor moving fast enough through the air to create heat and light of its own. But if space is a vacuum, what air is there for it to cause the friction to create heat and light?

answ2. Shooting stars are meteors, alien bits of rock etc that mill around in the cosmos. When they enter the atmosphere, their descent speed is sufficient to heat them to incandescence (well the small ones anyway).

They also come in groups which appear to point to a region of the sky, hence e.g. "the Leonids" which appear to come from the Leo zodiac grouping.

They are possibly the remains of a long-gone body that broke up in its cosmic passage, and bits of it are still falling along the original trajectory - hence The Leonids. There are a number of groupings. When the earth in its annual rotation round the sun passes through this old path, it meets a few of the pieces of debris on each passage.

When they hit the Earth, they are called meteorites.

You can see meteors anywhere away from city lights (if you meant Louisiana, that shouldn't be hard; if you meant Los Angeles, you've got a bit of a problem).

One way to draw a shooting star is by drawing a star with five points and adding a tail behind the star. You can draw a circle for the star and thick or thin lines for the tail.
