I would say put them in their cages, and when the tornado is coming, get them ( Or just it ) and run down to a basement or closet ( If you don't have a basement ), and they will be safe!
no one knows when an earthquake we can feel will happen, but to make sure your animals are safe, put tops on terrariums, keep a dog crate open for your dog/cat to hide in, etc
Just be with them and try to reassure them.
a Doppler rader tracks a tornado and will tell the wearther people if it's coming
If a tornado is coming, do not call anyone. Take cover immediately. After a tornado passes you may call the National Weather Service to report that a tornado is in the area. If people are seriously injured or trapped, call 911.
It is impossible to tell where the next tornado will be. There is some potential for tornadoes on protions of the Great Plains today, June 14, 2014.
No. It doesn't take a very strong tornado to pick up or flip a car. If you are in a car and a tornado is coming you should go to the nearest sturdy building or underground shelter. If no shelter is nearby get out of the car and lie in a ditch or depression.
yes In the case of a weak tornado a closed window can prevent damaging winds form entering the house. Though if a tornado is coming do not waste time with the windows. Take cover immediately.
Take the pets with you to where you are taking cover.
You should not be in a mobile home if there is a tornado coming. Mobile homes are very susceptible to tornado damage and should be abandoned for sturdier shelter during a tornado warning.
Nothing
I'd be looking for safe shelter.
If there is a tornado you should take your family and pets into the basement (if you have one) or a room with no windows, preferably on the first floor, not a second or third level of a home.
If you can see the tornado
Where you should go in your basement does not depend on where the tornado is coming from, but how the house and basement are arranged. You will want to be away from windows and preferably in a corner. If there is a small room within the basement, the walls can add protection.
It might be a good idea to observe the behavior of pets, such as dogs, cats, hamsters, etc.. They can give a good indication when something terrible is approaching in the weather.
yes!
No. If a tornado is coming you will not have time to board up your windows.
It can be purple or any other color. The color of the lightning has nothing to do with whether or not a tornado is coming.
If you are in a mobile home and a tornado is coming you should leave and find a sturdier structure nearby, preferably one with a basement or cellar. Some trailer parks in tornado-prone areas have communal underground storm shelters that you can go to.
