If there is a separate bottom in the cage under the bottom grate, there is always newspaper. If it doesn't have the bottom grate, there is a product made from ground up corn cobs. another product is compressed pellets of sawdust. this is more for rodents. A new product is thin strips of paper but I find this messy. The corn cobs are probably the best and if they eat it, it is no big deal.

∙ 11y agoaccording to the age of the bird and size of the bird primarily the legs of the bird, newspaper maybe the primary source for good lining of the cage. if the bird is ripping up the paper, then discontinue the use of newspaper as the ink from the paper maybe toxic. there is such a bird cage liner known as sand paper liner for bird cages. this is good in helping to keep their nails trim and in good health.

How do you clean a hamster cage quickly?
Well first you need to put your hamster in an excersise ball or somewhere, get a plastic carrier bag and get the bottom of the cage and tip the dirty bedding out(take out any toy or beds first!) take away the old bedding. put down news paper and put down fresh bedding. Put back any toys and beds, food bowls etc... put hamster back in the cage and there you go a clean cage in less then 10mins! hope this helped!!:)
