Once when I had a rash on my upper legs, I put some calamine on it and that helped a lot. Within the next 10 to 11 hours the redness had been reduced and it didn't hurt after about 1 minute of putting the calamine on it. That may not fix it for you but it worked for me.
If you have a bad rash that will not go away you should go and see a doctor.
However, camomile lotion is good at soothing a rash.

Who says you should put a towel on a rash? I would put antibacterial cream. If the rash is likely to be rubbed against by clothing, I would use some kind of dressing, such as a bandaid or gauze.
