For a 120/240 volt sub panel at a full 100 amps at 600 feet you will need a 250MCM copper conductor. This conductor is rated at 265 amps with 90 degrees C insulation for normal distance installations.

This is a voltage drop question and needs to have the circuit's voltage stated. The voltage has a direct relationship to the amperage and therefore to the size of wire that the circuit needs. Also what needs to be stated is whether the sub panel is single phase or three phase. Edit this information into the question and it will be answered.

Usually 4/0, but it depends on your length of circuits and loads. For example, if you have a long circuit you might have to use 300 or 350. You must do your voltage drop cal.

Parallel runs of 250 MCM will do the job.

What size pipe and size aluminum wire are required for a 100A sub panel off a 200A main service?

A #1 aluminum wire with a insulation factor of 90 degrees C is rated at 105 amps. Three #1 wires can be installed into an 1 1/2" conduit.

A 60 amp electrical service panel at a 2800 square foot home would be?

If it was preinstalled, it may have been adequate at the time of installation. It depends on the power requirements of the home. If this is a new install, the NEC has a minimum of 100A for service equipment. To be honest, I would install 200A minimum to allow for future expansion.

What size of wire do I need for 130 ft run sub panel?

Wire sizing is based on the amperage of the load. Without this amperage the wire size can not be calculated. Also with sub panels it should be stated whether it is under the same roof as the main panel or separate from the main building. Different code rules apply to each application.

Can you run an additional breaker panel parallel to the existing one?

It is not in parallel. You put a breaker in existing panel and use that to feed the subpanel. The Amperage of this subfeed breaker should match the rating of the new panel. For example a 100A breaker might be typical. Remember that ground and neutral are only "bonded" at the main panel. Usually a subpanel has a means to separate the neutral and ground in a subpanel. Be careful since everything about doing this is dangerous.Another AnswerYes, you can have two breaker panels in parallel. If you had a 100 amp panel on a 200 amp service (or increase the size of the service, check with your power company on the size of your service, you could add a second 100 amp panel in parallel with the first. You can have up to 6 disconnects per service, but they must be located adjacent to each other or in the same enclosure. So either install the second panel beside the first or a 100 amp disconnect beside the first panel and feed out of the disconnect to the new panel located where you need it.

Do you need a main disconnect on the feeder wires running to a detached garage running from the box in the house?

Yes you do. The detached garage will either be fed with a single circuit or a sub panel. The wire feeding the garage will need to be protected and that is the purpose of the breaker (disconnect). The breaker size will be determined by the size of the wire that is used on this circuit.

What wire size do you need for a 125 amp panel with a 100 amp main breaker?

A #3 copper conductor with an insulation factor of 90 degrees C is rated at 115 amps. Even though the panel is rated at a higher amperage it is the main breaker that governs the wire size.

Are there 100A available on both bars of a 100A panel in a home and for instance can you draw 75A on each bar?

The amp rating of a panel is based on the size of materials used (the bars, etc). You can pull 400 amps through your panel (provided a 400amp breaker was in place); but it would probably melt down very quickly. Basically you have 100 amps total to play with: be it from two 50amp breakers or 30 subpanels pulling 3 amps. :D You just can't pull more than 100amps at one time or the main will trip. The 100 amps is a rating for each bar. If your panel has a 100 amp double pole breaker, then you can use up to 100 amps on each pole. You really shouldn't draw more than 80 amps continuously. But you can count on having that 160 amps avilable if all your loads use only one hot leg of the panel (120 volt loads instead of 240).
