That's an easy one! The song is "Baby Give It Up" and it is by KC and the Sunshine Band. They also had hits with "Get Down Tonight" - known as the theme from the movie "Flubber" and "Shake Your Booty".

The one I'm looking for has these lyrics: 'You were my joy you were my pain, something is lost something is gained'. '...now I think it's time to give it up.' It sounds like a slow soppy song but it's actually a quick tempo RnB track that sounds more cheerful than its lyrics about breaking up. It's sung by an American sounding woman.
