writing of the "Star-Spangled Banner"
The US national anthem is The Star Spangled Banner
The lyrics are inquiring into the fate of the land after a real night long battle with the British in 1800s. If the flag of the United States of America still stands that means freedom in the land was not defeated in the cover of night. If British have raised the Union flag then victory is lost. Symbolically the lyrics generalize the struggle of the People to preserve hope and liberty from the uncertainty of the future. --The lyrics were inspired by a real battle witnessed by Francis Scott Key--

Hailed meant acclaimed or honored with fanfare. Twilight still means dusk, the end of the days light as night falls.
I Could Have Danced All Night was created in 1956.
'I Could Have Danced All Night' is from My Fair Lady.
Key wrote the words to the song while watching the bombardment of Mc Henry and saw that the American flag was still flying after the long night shelling.
To prove that our state was free, and people (teachers) tell me that after the battle, our flag was the only thing left standing.
The Star Spangled Banner was written by Francis Scott Key, a lawyer who was dining aboard a British ship with an American Prisoner Exchange Agent, trying to secure the release of his friend. He was on board the ship the night of the British bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore on September 13, 1814. The Fort lasted all through the night, and on September 14th, the Americans took down the tattered storm flag and raised a larger one. Key was so filled with pride that he wrote the poem, then called "The Defence of Fort McHenry

Written by Francis Scott Key after witnessing British bombardment of Fort McHenry during the War of 1812The Star Spangled Banner."The Star-Spangled Banner" is the National Anthem of USA.That very much depends upon whom you are. The states of most nations have chosen "national" anthems. The oldest such anthem is probably that of the Netherlands, "Het Wilhelmus", written about 1570.Spain still has no "national" anthem. The lyrics to the United States "national" anthem are taken from a poem by Francis Scott Key originally called "The Defense of Fort McHenry", sometimes called "The Siege of Fort McHenry", but the anthem itself is named "The Star-Spangled Banner". The tune is slightly modified from an English composition, "The Anacreontic Song". (For a while, Luxembourg used pretty much the same difficult tune for their anthem, but they abandoned it long before it became the official anthem of the United States.)
