West Virginia- but the ORIGINAL state of Virginia stretched to the Mississippi River. The states of Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and, even a part of Minnesota were all a part of the original Virginia territory.

The entire states of West Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana were formed from Virginia. Portions of Ohio and Canada were once parts of Virginia.

Kentucky and West Virginia were originally apart of the colony of Virginia. Kentucky became a state in 1792 and West Virginia became a state in 1861.
