Twenty-one states and the District of Columbia have bicycle helmet laws that require some young bicyclists to wear a helmet. No states currently have laws requiring anyone over 17 to wear a helmet. However local law may require helmet use for some or all bicyclists. These means, for example, whilst Washington have no laws requiring helmet use Seattle city law does require it.
This means you need to look specifically at your city laws for the provisions put forward in your area. You may be surprised at what you find; city provisions can often be much stricter than state laws.

In most states you need to wear a helmet for quad bikes. Even if it is not a law, when the conditions exist for brain injury, wearing a helmet is always a good idea.
