Ans 2, (blanking the previous answer "All States"):Actually not all of the states have age limits on children being left alone. Like in Texas they don't have one. But I don't know about any other places. Hope this helps!!!

Ans 1, Elaborated:Please check out the legal definition at http://definitions.uslegal.com/c/child-abandonment/ before you take the advice given in answer #2. All states have child neglect laws and Texas is no different. What differs from one state to the next are insignificant details. If the age limit is not stipulated in the state law, it will be adjudicated...still a limit, but flexible, depending on circumstances.

How old does a child have to be to stay home alone in ma?

Well there's no law that says you cant leave your child home alone unless there like 2 but its up to the parent if they trust a babysitter than any age is ok if an adult is present but if they are going to be home alone i would say you need to have a sit down with the child and tell them what to do and what not to do like playing with the stove etc. but i would recommend not leaving him/her alone unless they are about 12 or 13 but that's just my opinion

Why can't you stay at home alone until 13 years old?

Because you have to be mature enough, Because what if you were really badly hurt and no one would know until your parent/caregiver came home.
