Only South Carolina would secede from the Union in 1860 and there was no Confederate States of America at that time. That would come in February of 1861 and she would be among the first seven states to form the new nation. The others were Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Texas, Georgia, and Louisiana.

The first state to secede was South Carolina on December 20, 1860, followed by Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, and Texas. After the Battle for Fort Sumter, on the 12th of April 1861, Virginia, Arkansas, North Carolina, and Tennessee seceded.
