Answer 1They first came to Perth but then after that most of the Italian community came to Darwin. Today there are more then 50, 000 Italy born people living there. Answer 2As I learned it, the Italians came mainly to the larger cities in Australia - Sydney and Melbourne, especially post-WW2, though eventually favouring Melbourne.

Within the two decades 1950's and 60's, a mass Italian migration occurred to the point of 10 times the previous total of Italian-born immigrants!

Melbourne being their major target, within Melbourne, they mainly settled in Brunswick and Carlton - moving over to Heidelberg, and basically spreading through northern, north-western and north-eastern Metropolitan Melbourne.

So great is the Italian influence in Australia, in fact, that today, Italian is the second most-spoken language within Australian homes!
