The freezing/melting point of pure water is 32° Fahrenheit (equal to 0° C).

However at exactly 32 degrees (and a normal atmospheric pressure) water and ice can exist simultaneously with no preference for either state. Slightly below this temperature and water freezes, slightly above and ice melts.

The boiling point of water is 212 degrees Fahrenheit. The difference between these two values is 180 degrees.

Salt water does not freeze at that temperature/ , Adding anything to water (salt, antifreeze, alcohol etc_ generally powers the freezing point.
