most geckos are from the desert so they need heat. their basking area needs to be a least 95 degrees F. at night it can dip to 65, but just make sure the humidity isn't up to high or they can get respiratory problems.
Geckos come from every continent on earth except for Antarctica. This means that a gecko can come from almost any environment and any temperature. Some geckos thrive in temperatures reaching 105F or more, while others from a rain forest habitat enjoy more humidity than direct heat with temperatures never exceeding 80F.
A gecko cage should be kept at 80 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. (26.7 to 29.4 degrees Celsius)
The geckos water should be room temperature. 66-80F
80 degrees.
This is some reasons a leopard geckos and Madagascar day geckos can't live together: #1: Madagascars have a different environment than leopard geckos. Madagascar day geckos live in tropical conditions and leopard geckos live in desert conditions. #2 they would be fighting because they are territorial.
No, that would merely annoy them. Provide leopard geckos with a humid hide, and keep a small shallow dish of water available for them at all times.
NOOOOO!!!!! That is a big no no the iguarna will kill or eat the gecko!!
Green anoles require more humidity than leopard geckos do, which means a nightly misting is required. A Leopard gecko requires a standing bowl of water. Both require heating, regular feedings, weekly tank change etc.. It's a matter of personal preference and opinion but leopard geckos are very easy to keep.
lots of people keep there leopard geckos in tubs. I'm going to get two leopard geckos for my birthday and I'm going to get one proper glass vivarium and one plastic tub. I do think that it depends how many geckos you are going to get. if you are only getting one then i would buy a glass vivarium. if you are getting 1+ then i recommend a few plastic tubs.
if you keep feeding you leopard gecko like i do he will store part of the food he eats in his tail.So the only way you can get it fat is to feed him/her.
Leopard geckos cannot live with panther geckos. Even though care for both are generally the same, there are some huge differences between the two. Leopard geckos are usually between 7 and 10 inches long (some almost a foot), and panthers are 4-6 (or occasionally up to 8) inches long. This size difference alone could do it. The Leopard geckos would pick on the panther geckos. Also, the climate of the two needs to be very different. Panther geckos live in southern Madagascar naturally, while Leopard geckos live in Afghanistan and neighboring countries. Panther geckos need higher humidity levels than Leopards, and lower temperatures. Together, either the leopard gecko, or the panther gecko, will suffer, if not both. Please, don't keep these two creatures together. It won't work out well.
On average, the leopard gecko will live 5-10 years in the wild due to predators but in captivity, the oldest recorded leopard gecko lived to be 27 years old. Youtube "dink the leopard gecko"
Well, you're probably in for a surprise. In other words, your leopard gecko is pregnant! If you've never had any other leopard geckos in the aquarium (or wherever you keep it) then the egg will never hatch, it's just a cycle some leopard geckos go through, and is not uncommon. No need to worry, just remove the egg; but if you have had another leopard gecko in the cage before, it was probably a male, even if you thought otherwise, as this can be tricky. If this is so, you should put a small container of fresh aspen shavings or the moss you can get, but not the sand (this can be hazardous for baby leopard geckos). Hopefully, your gecko will lay her egg in the container, and you should remove that and place them in an incubator (directions at http://www.albeysreptiles.com/incubate-eggs.htm). Continue to follow the directions at that website, and you will find what you need. If the eggs are not in the container, carefullyremove the eggs by taking all that is under it and gently placing it in the container. Try to incubate them, following the directions given earlier, but it will normally be too late by then. Hope your hatchlings-to-be will do well!
Fruit baby food is acceptable. However, be warned that some geckos will get snotty and refuse to eat anything else. It is a good idea to mix in some supplement powder specially made for leopard geckos to keep your pet healthy.
geckos can be kept in tanks/vivariums, depending if the have a hut as they are nocturnal. they eat mealworms and insects smaller than a geckos head, they appreciate small spaces. although the tank must have a heater and lighter, as these creatures are from pakistan and india, geckos are adapted to small enviroments. hope this helped! ;)
Do not! I repeat: do not mix leopaard geckos with Any Other species of lizard! They will fight till death of one, the other, or even both! If only one dies, the other will undoubtably be seriously injured! Plus, different species of lizards need a different requirements, leopard geckos are desert types, so you should not pot a Chinese water dragon with it.I have seen pet stores keep young panther geckos with young leopard geckos. but as they grow older they will fight and even kill eachother. If you want to put two or more geckos together you should only put females together (if you put a male with females it is very likely that they will lay eggs). NEVER put two males together.
