This might have been an answer your parents have already given you, but it's the truth: start by justing being a friend to girls. Believe it or not, lots of girls in middle school feel like nobody likes them either. So if you are willing to be friendly to girls, start a conversation and be nice to them, they are sure to appreciate it. And truth be told, you may never have a girlfriend in middle school, but a least you can be make some friends who are girls. That's a great start, and that's way more mature than some other middle school boys I know!

Just tell him how you feel. Getting someone to do it for you is so elementary school, and if you're old enough to actually be asking someone out in the first place, you're old enough to not hide behind your friends' skirts.
