You are not supposed to eat for 6-8 hours before the test, otherwise you will be rescheduled. Be sure to schedule your ultrasound first thing in the morning so you don't have to starve all day.

I have never heard that you mustn't eat prior to a pregnancy ultrasound and certainly the website makes no mention of it. If an early ultrasound is being performed the bladder should be full to enable the uterus to be seen more clearly, but other than this no regimen is necessary.

****I am not the person(s) or related to the person(s) who answered the first two paragraphs. Not every abdominal ultrasound is for pregnancies - there are many other reasons. For those of you (especially men.....lol) who aren't pregnant, NOTHING TO EAT OR DRINK AFTER MIDNIGHT.

you would need to fast for 8 to 12 hours and wear comfortable clothing and loose fitting.
