You need at least a Nightmare Pickaxe or a Deathbringer Pickaxe. Both require you to defeat the boss in that world's corrupted area, either the Eater of Worlds in The Corruption, or the Brain of Cthuhlu in The Crimson. Beating these will give you the necessary crafting materials for the relevant pickaxe.
