Generally a formula or a combination of formulas is used to calculate the volume of a regular solid. We would need some tool to measure the length of sides or diameter. Depending on the accuracy required a ruler or measuring tape could be used or vernier callipers for more accurate measurements.

Volume of a rectangular solid or cube = L x B x H (length x breadth x height)

Volume of a cylinder = H x pi x r2 (r = radius of cylinder, pi = 3.1416)

Volume of a sphere = 4/3 x pi x r3

Volume of a regular prism = area of base x H ( a regular prism has the same cross sectional shape when cut)

It depends if you're measuring the volume of liquids you will use a measuring cylinder. But if you're measuring the volume of gases you will use a gas syringe. By: addicted_to_wickedness@hotmail.com

You would use the volume formula for the shape of what ever the object is.

E.g - A cylinder container: πr^2h ( Pi x [ radius x radius ] x height )

Google for other formulas.

Water vessel. Place the solid object in the vessel containing water and note how much the water level rises. This change in volume is equal to the volume of the solid object.

What is the unit name for a rectangular solid in the metric system?

If you want the volume, the official unit is the cubic meter. Related units include the liter (= cubic decimeter) and the milliliter (= cubic centimeter).

Can you use a balance to measure the volume irregularly shaped solid?

yes you can use a balance to measure the volume of an irregular shaped solid.

How can you measure the volume of an irregular solid?

It's simple, you just have to take a measurable recipient big enough to contain the solid, fill the recipient with a known volume of water and drop the irregular solid into the water. Then you can measure the increase of volume, which will be equivalent to the volume of your solid.

How can you use a balance scale and a metric ruler to find the density of a rectangular solid?

Measure the solid to determine its length, width, and height. Multiply all three to get its volume. Weigh the solid to determine its weight. Divide weight by volume to get density. Convert as needed to the appropriate units.

A cubic metre or a cubic centimetre.

How do you measure volume of regular solid?

The volume of regular solid can be measured by multiplying the length, is width and its distance.

What do we measure matter in!?

It depends on the matter. Regular solid matter could be measured in metric measurements with a rule or a tape measure. Or in weight. Or in the volume of water the matter displaces, in which case the measurement would be in litres and millilitres.

How can you measure the volume of an irregularly shape solid?

Yes you can.You can measure the solid by putting it into a gradruated cylinder. The height of the water shows you how much volume the solid has. fun is at www.qyue.webs.com
