There were two, manual cars were equiped with a T5, and the automatics were 700R4s.
turbo trans am came out in 81
The Automatic was generally known as the THM125 The manual was built by Getrag
The 1986 Firebird came with either a 2.8L V6 or a 5.0L V8
i have the 1991 toyota 4x4 with a g58 trans
That would be the 4L60E trans.
The 99 Pontiac Bonneville, Firebird and Grand Prix came with the 3.8 engine. The Sunfire came with the 2.2 or the 2.4. The Montana came with the 3.4. The Grand Am came with the 2.4 or the 3.4. The Firebird Trans Am and the Firebird Formula, the 5.7. Only the Grand Prix SE came with the 3.1.
That code is a transmission slip same code came on with my 96 Cutlass Supreme
Some Pontiacs came from the factory with Chevy engines. If this is the case on your 79 firebird, then the transmission will bolt up to a 350 Chevy. If the car came with a Pontiac engine, then the bolt pattern is different and would not bolt up.
Yes both the 350 and 305 will fit, most firebirds came with 350 in the 1976 year as long as you have the correct mounts with a little work they will fit,try going to www.thirdgen.org and posting the swap in the forum alot of people will give you there info and alot have done it before
The movie 'Smokey and The Bandit' spurred A 700% increase in sales of Pontiac Trans Am in the late 70's, The president of Pontiac promissed Burt Reynolds A Trans Am every year for the rest of his life. He received 3 cars in concecutive years, The fourth never came, Pontiac told him that the promise was made by the former president who died. No deal.
That would be the 4L60E transmission. The 4L80E trans. was used in the 3/4 ton trucks.
get a different hobby
Check on the bottom side of the transmission for a plug that may have came unplugged. It will make it shift really hard if it is unplugged.
you pour the oil right into the tube that the transmission dipstick came out of. Use a funnel, watch the amount trans fluid that you our into the funnel it will overflow and make a mess. Good Luck DAHouse
that depends on what engine both trucks came with.
I'm sorry to break the news to you, but the Pontiac Trans Am are no longer in production, and the last production was in 2002 with their last model. I myself would've loved to seen what they thought of to make a 2010 Pontiac Trans Am, especially since the camaro is close to comparison and the new 2010 Camaro are definitely "sweet." GM was able to come out with the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, but the discontinuance of Pontiac is the reason there will be no 5th generation of Firebirds/Trans Am. Their 30th anniversary model was in 1999 which came with two blue strips which was thought of from the 1969 Trans Am, the 1999 version also came with side graphics. In 2002, the last of the Trans Am model which was considered the "Collectors Edition" was painted yellow, usually a WS6, with the Ram Air package included, black pacer strips and black rims, a very BEAUTIFUL car. I currently have a 2000 Pontiac Trans Am Convertible V8 with the LS1 Corvette C5 engine. White car, black top. I've had my car for 10 years now. Average 13,000 miles a year. My car has performed beautifully. I've been in many drag races with many different cars even trucks. Never a corvette but would love too, have to admit, the WS6 has won against mine, which still regardless it wasn't my car, makes me proud.
Well I asked this one and now i will also answer it. It is one of the cables going from the shifter to the transmission broke
The auto trans was 330 HP. Standard trans got a little better cam, 350 HP. the 2 barrel step down option came in at 265 HP. HO and Ram Air versions topped them all at 360HP.
hyd.350 turbo tranny and a 1979 buick regal has these
The 231ci V6 came with a TH200 3 speed automatic. The V8 cars came with TH350 3 speed autos. I believe the manuals trans was a Muncie 4 speed
The 1987 Pontiac formula 350 with the 5.7 TPI v-8 that only came in the automatic transmission had roughly just over 13,000 made. The GTA had roughly 11,000. Now most people need to realize when they are looking at this particular car, the Formula 350 only came with the automatic transmission in 1987. So if you find one with a manual it is not an all original car.
No, the only models that came with a trans oil cooler built into the radiator where the automatic ones.
The 1/2 tons used the 4L60E transmissions. The 3/4 tons used the 4L80E trans.
there is no dipstick on this car why i don't know but there is a 10mm nut on the side of trans u fill trans until fluid starts coming out that's how u know its full i don't know what genius @gm came up with this
