It is a woodsy smell ,i could be wrong but it is a combination of organic and some form of acid,it is used to clean artists paint brushes and remove certain paints and vinils(sp)...i get the feeling it is from some form of stripping bark by the woodsy odor..i have used this myself when i have done my art work,...but im not a 100 percent on the origin...i believe it was used alot in the pharoah days it is also used to thin out paint solutions etc....(I never looked this one up, just thought i would challenge the question)....blessings....i do believe it has some form of fermented alcohol....It has also been used as in war, fire bombs, pipe bombs etc and is very flammable and dangerous stuff.....blessings
Turpentine is a liquid made from the distillation of pine resin. It is primarily used as a solvent but can be used to produce organic compounds, treat certain ailments, and as a fuel source.
Today turpentine comes primarily from the pine tree, but originally it came from Pistacia terebinthus (turpentine tree)
Oil paint dissolves in turpentine.
Yes
Turpentine is a mixture of hydrocarbons just like kerosene oil it contains hydrocarbons having carbon atoms 11 to 20 or more
No. Because of the confusion between turpentine, mineral turpentine, mineral spirits and mineral oil, I have included links to all of these substances. All of the above except mineral oil are toxic if one drinks them. Turpentine is the only one that is not a petroleum distillate. Mineral oil as sold in a pharmacy is for constipation and to be used as directed. See related links.
by distillation of crude and its derivates
The real turpentine is made with the fruits of the pine, the mineral one is petrol-based
Turpentine is made by distilling resin from trees, primarily pine trees.
Turpentine is a substance used to thin and clean oil-based paints, made from pine wood.
mainly pine trees
turpentine
Turpentine (AKA spirit of turpentine, oil of turpentine, wood turpentine, gum turpentine, and white spirit) is technically a blend of terpenes, mainly alpha-pinene and beta-pinene. It is still made from organic materials collected from the processing of pine pulp. The specific process leading to its production is the Kraft process where wood pulp destined to become paper is cooked in a strong caustic solution until the cellulose fibers can be collected. The rest of the organic material is distilled for organics removal. Turpentine is one of the products.
Tobacco,rice,indigo and turpentine
its made out of water and turpen that doesnt answer the question
Rubber is a latex obtained by tapping the bark of the rubber tree .Turpentine is a distillation obtained from certain species of pine
Turpentine
There are several types of turpentine. Rectified turpentine is, arguably, a bit of a misnomer when it comes to 'true' turpentine. While regular or distilled turpentine is the sap from a tree (normally pine) tapped in a similar manner to maple syrup, rectified turpentine goes through an entirely different process. Rectified turpentine is made by literally mashing up trunk, limbs and leaves of a tree, then steaming out the spirits. Because of this, rectified turpentine has water, and therefore excess oxygen which can cause undesirable drying patterns in projects or art.
Turpentine is a good solvent for paints.
