In the original Hebrew, it's called "MAHN", and the context seems to indicate that

the label is inquisitive ... that the people gave it that name when they first saw it

"because they didn't know what it was". King James' committee stayed close to

the Hebrew in their translation, calling it "manna".

God provided the Israelites with Manna in the wilderness.

Thus, it is written in book of Exodus 16:14-16 that after crossing isthmus children of Israel came to wilderness between Elim and Sinai. It was already the fifteenth day of the second month since they had departed from the land of Egypt. They had nothing to eat. In anguish, they cried out to the Lord and God gave them the food. When children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, it is manna for they knew, not what it was. Then, Moses said unto them, this is the bread, which the Lord hath given you to eat.

After all, what is manna?

Was it a sweet substance; obtained from the cocoons of a Middle Eastern Weevil? Tamarix mannifera, an exudation of plants with slender branches and pink and white flowers; is also known as Manna. Some experts believe that the manna of The Bible, the food given by God to the Israelites, was the lichen Lecanora esculenta, or a related species. While it is dry, it can be torn from the soil and transported by the wind, producing a "rain" of food.

Israelites were trekking a barren tract. Even if there was some kind of plant life in the desert; but it would not have been enough to feed six hundred thousand people for nearly forty years.

To Israelites, Manna was an unexpected and a beneficial reward. It came to them when they needed it the most. However, God did not give it to them free for asking. They had earned it from the sweat of their brow, as you would see in the following paragraphs.

Bible says that each morning Israelites found the ground covered with manna; it was like dew from heaven. Israelites found manna edible. We already know that to survive we need food, and carbohydrate is the main source of energy in food. Carbohydrates in fact are the hydrates of carbon.

We need either plant or animal life to sustain us. Israelites had already consumed whatever food, grains and animals they brought with them from Egypt. In desert, there were neither plants nor animals to feed them. Bible says they did eat quails, but even those would not last for 40 years. Thus, we have no other choice, but to believe that they lived on Manna.

Did their body turn into autotroph to produce its own food? However, Bible says Manna used to fall every day from above. Every morning Israelites used to collect it.

James Jeans, the British scientist had said, "The life exists on this planet only because the carbon atom possesses certain exceptional properties." A carbohydrate that sustains us is a product of the carbon cycle. Therefore, Manna too ought to be a product of carbon cycle. We can get carbohydrates only out of plant life. Plant life is necessary for completing this carbon cycle. In the desert though there was no plant life yet, Israelites survived. It means the carbon cycle was somehow complete, even without the plant life.

Presence of 600,000 Israelites in the desert was somehow maintaining a constant circulation and transfer of carbon.

The climate in the desert is hot, dry during day, and cold during nights; so cold that it causes ground frost in winter. The land between Elim and Sinai was desolate. The Israelites had been starving since they had not eaten any food for past several days. Their bodies' was egesting only sweat and tears. Please remember their bodies were releasing lot of sweat. Our original question was, "How God did then, gave manna, the bread from heaven to Israelites for asking when God had said, "In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread."

You will see here, God did not go back on his promise. He gave them bread even in the desert in return of the sweat they were shedding in the desert.

The climate in the desert is hot, dry during day, and cold during nights; so cold that it causes ground frost in winter. The sweat bodies of Israelites was releasing rose into atmosphere as free energy. There was nothing to stop it so it rose to a height of 100 kilometres above earth's surface. Their sweat had reached ionosphere. In ionosphere a layer of ions and electrons are mixed with the neutral gases of the atmosphere; where the electrons are stripped from the atoms by the ultraviolet light and X-rays emitted by the Sun.

When the sweat of Israelites was mixed with the layers of Ions, electrons, the Sun's ultra violate, and x ray converted it to Plasma. At this interface the same means of sustenance, as another like composition had formed into fourth state of matter that is plasma.

The Manna, the bread from Heaven Israelites received while they were wandering in the desert was nothing but plasma. Thus, God had fulfilled what he had said earlier. "In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground?
