According to the John Hopkins arthritiswebsite, if it were true that ice cream makes arthritisworse "there would be a lot of unhappy people in the world.">i'm no expert on this, but I don't like hopkins' answer at all. i have a lot of anecdotal evidence--and there are many books that agree--that people who give up refined sugars are often able to greatly reduce the intensity of their arthritis ; so increasing sugars doesn't bode well. there are also theories (in Chinese medicine?) that taking ice cold drinks increases the pain of osteoarthritis. i don't have time to do the search, but look up "diets for arthritis" on amazon and the web and you'll find the suggestion about reducing refined sugar (and refined flour?) again and again.
you can eat anything you like there may be some foods that cause you to feel more discomfort then normal , however this generally depends on the individual If you are under treatment there may be drugs that don't agree with the consumption of alcohol
Here is a good old remedy that really works. Soak 6 dried apricots in water over night and then eat them in the morning. Its a very inexpensive remedy, but works.
