eating disorders
Anorexia is considered to be an eating disorder. It can also fall under some other catergories, like a "condition", "mental disorder", "emotional disorder", and a "physical disorder". It depends possibly on the cause (depression, BDD, media, ect.) and also who you ask, as some doctors / people only believe it is a certain type of condition, and not another.
Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder in which a person will starve themselves for a long period of time usually taking in 500 or less calories a day. (500 calories is a lot to someone with anorexia, like 3,000 to someone without an eating disorder).
Both are psychological disorders related to food intake, driven by an inaccurate, poor self-image. Anorexia, or anorexia nervosa, is a condition in which the sufferer starves himself/herself (usually herself) due to an urgent but unfounded sense of needing to weigh less. Bulimia is similar, but bulimics eat then throw up the food before the body can use it.
