An ordinary amplifier can have high gain but is unstable, drifts, can oscillate, etc.

An amplifier with negative feedback has lower gain but is stable, does not drift, won't oscillate, etc.

there are four general type of feedback in amplifiers...

called feedback topologies

1.voltage sampling series mixing also called series-shunt feedback

2. current sampling shunt mixing also called shunt-series feedback

3.current sampling series mixing also called series-series feedback

4.voltage sampling shunt mixing also called shunt-shunt feedback
