on the gt models you should use premium add too your answer: I personally noticed with my 2.0l 4cyc. I get better gas mileage and proformance when I put premium in it.
Ok well the ford probe discontinued production in 1997. On all Ford Probe models the fuel pump is located in the gas tank. So to service and or replace it you have to drop the gas tank. Not fun
According to my Chilton's Auto Repair manual : A 1989 Ford Probe gas tank holds ( 15.1 U.S. gallons )
The Ford Probe gets great gas mileage but if you are accident prone it will not last. They have a decent crash test rating but if you want value for your money you should try the Cavalier.

When my 1997 Ford Probe started to do that we toke a look at it and found a few leaks in the Air Intake
distributor is likely bad

if its in good condition its about the best car your going to get, they may be old but they run amazing and they are cheep on gas, and huge engine for a small car, my ford probe has a truck engine in it, 3.0L V6
