Best Answer

The plant is a deep green and it has 3 to 4 leaf "pedals" on each stem. They are also a little fuzzy, like velvet. The best thing to do is to mound the dirt up around the plant leaving just a little above ground. Doing this will give you more potatoes.

A potato is not a leaf. The part that you eat called a tuber. It grows underground. The potato plant does have roots, stems, and leaves though, like almost all other plants. Their leaves look very similar to a tomato plant, actually, except that they don't have a strong smell like the tomato does.

Potatoes are usually round shaped, but can grow in many different shapes. The peels range from light brown to a darker brown and some are red or yellowish.
