Drums can be played in any genre if you ask me. I'm sure certain styles of music

were made with the drums being out of mind like "bluegrass" which has no drums.

But you are the drummer so you can be as creative as you want to be or as creative

as you will allow yourself to be.

But here is a list of styles that modern drummers play in: Blues, Contemperary,

Country, Funk, Fusion, Metal, Latin, Jazz, Pop, Punk, Reggae, Rock, Techno, and

many more you can find on "drumstyles.com".

I hope this helps you out.

The steel drums are used in a variety of music styles. Latin and jazz are the most common types of music using steel drums, and have been recently used in jazz fusion.

The Hollies' (a pop group) 1967 song "Carrie Anne" used steel drums as well.

What are steel drums used for?

Steel Drums are an instrument invented in Trinidad and Tobago, where they are called steelpans. Initially used for calypso and world music, all styles of music can be played on the instruments, including jazz, classical, pop, etc. The drums were initially made from old oil drums, and are of different lengths and contain notes on concave surfaces. When the notes are struck with a mallet different musical tones are produced.

I believe you can play them in any style but not everyone likes bluegrass with drums in it. :) Really it's a creativity thing, if you would like to play drums to a certain style do it and don't worry about if it's correct or not, it's music there is no right or wrong way to express yourself (please whoever is reading this don't make me reconsider changing my opinion by intentionally acting over-dramatic while playing your instrument). lol jk
