I think slowly because a substance that heats up quickly have a high specific heat capacity. i think slowly Specific heat is that amount of energy needed to raise a unit mass by a unit temperature. If something has a high specific heat, it means it needs a lot of energy to heat up, meaning slow.

A substance with low specific heat means that it takes less energy to raise the objects temperature compared to a substance of larger specific heat. In this case, if you were heating this object with low specific heat, it would sooner reach its heat capacity and begin to release heat, making the object feel hot. An item with a larger specific heat will do the same thing, but at a slower rate. This is why we do not use stove materials such as copper, because the specific heat is much lower and would burn almost anything we would try to cook on it. Stainless steel objects can absorb more heat and therefore give off less, which does not burn the food as quickly.

What causes a substance to cool down?

A substance becomes cold by radiating its heat out to its surrounding.

What substances that heat and cool quickly have a high or low specific heat?

A substance that has a low specific heat needs less heat to increase its temperature. In other words under a constant heat flux it will heat or cool more quickly than the higher specific heat substances.

What happens to the amount of radiation a radioactive substance emits when you heat it up or cool it down?

when you heat up or cool down radioactive substances, nothing changes how much radiation it emits.

What does the specific heat of a substance?

The ability of a substance to hold heat.

What thermometer measures -specific heat of a substance -absolute temperature of substance -heat intensity?

Describe what is meant by specific heat?

More or less in all biological systems. For example the high specific heat capacity helps to cool us through sweat, and it also helps to maintain a steady temperature of many biological systems. In industries, the high specific heat capacity of water helps to take away a huge amount of heat so it is used as a coolant in many industrial processes; for example in cooling some kinds of nuclear reactors.

A substance with a high specific heat will easily change temperature.
