Shakespeare had an interest in at least two theatres. His company, the king's men, owned the Globe and Blackfriars theatres. Some people think they may have had an interest in the Curtain theatre since that was the one they moved to when the Theatre was closed.

It was called the "Frons Scenae" and was the outer of the two stages. The inner stage was used by the supporting roles in the play. Apparently the Imperial of Rome named the stage walls "Frons Scenae" and the name eventually came to be applied to the stage. This stage was constructed in 1599.

It's called a thrust stage, with the audience seated in front of, and to the left and right of the actor. The back of the stage was a wall containing a balcony, a couple of exits and a concealment space.

After a number of centuries where proscenium stages (audience only in front of the actor) were all that was used, thrust stages, which have better acoustics and a more intimate feel, have made a strong comeback and are more popular now than they have been since Shakespeare's day.

A theatre called "Shakespeare Theatre" is of course called "Shakespeare Theatre". Shakespeare performed in a number of theatres during his career: The Theatre, Newington Butts, The Curtain, The Globe, The Blackfriars and possibly The Rose. He had a financial interest in The Globe and The Blackfriars. During his lifetime, none of these theatres would have been associated particularly with him, or thought of as Shakespeare's Theatre. The Theatre, The Curtain, The Globe and The Blackfriars would have been associated with Richard and Cuthbert Burbage, the main if not sole owners of them.
