I was looking at the 2002 Lincoln LS Owner Guide and it shows ( Motorcraft MERCON automatic transmission fluid ) is used in the engine cooling fan fluid reservoir
Use Ford Type F fluid.
The type of transmission fluid to use should be engraved into your automatic transmission fluid dipstick ( at least it is on the newer model years )
It is important to use the right type of transmission fluid to keep a car running well. A 2002 Dodge Caravan Se uses Mopar ATF+4 transmission fluid.
