There are 6 simple machines known as a wheel and axle, pulley, gear, inclined plane, lever, and a screw. A wheel and axle is anything that rolls. A pulley is like a crane. Pulleys help lift heavy objects easily and safely. Gears help the car stay in control and help it to move. Inclined planes are anything just standing on high surfaces. A lever is like a top of a teeter totter such as seesaw. A screw is like a screw you see everyday. It goes though an object to help hold it in place so it won't fall out or get unstable.

What is incremental positioning in cnc machining?

A machine can measure either from the zero point, or from the last position that was. For example, when you say "X10", you mean 10mm from the zero point of the axis X, or you may mean 10mm further than the last position the machine was on the X axis. The way of measuring is decided from the G codes G90 and G91. Running the G90 command, the machine will start to measure using absolute coordinates (measuring from the zero point of the axis) and running the G91 command will set the machine into "incremental measuring". For making matters more clear, see the following two examples. They generate both exactly the same thing, a rectangle as shown in file p7.jpg. The first code example uses absolute measurements and the second uses incremental measurements. At this point it should be said that almost all machines measures by default using G90 (absolute coordinates). For the following example, we suppose that somehow, the machines start from point 10,10 and not 0,0 REM --- a rectangle drawn using absolute coordinates --- G90 ; Set absolute measurement G1 Y80 G1 X80 G1 Y10 G1 X10 REM --- a rectangle drawn using incremental coordinates --- G91 ;Set incremental measurement G1 Y70 G1 X70 G1 Y-70 G1 X-70

What is idealization of mechanics in Engineering mechanics?

A number of ideal conditions are assumed to exist while applying the laws of mechanics of practical problems. in fact, without such assumptions, it is not feasible to arrive at practical solutions. The experience in the past centuries has shown that the following idealization could be made as they do not bring down the accuracy of the analytical results below the optimum level required by engineers to deal with practical diagram.ContinuumA body consists of several particles. It is a well known fact that each particle can be sub-divided into molecules, atoms and electrons. It is not feasible to solve any engineering problem by treating a body as a conglomeration of such discrete particles. The body is assumed to consist of a continuous distribution of matter which will not separate even when various forces considered are acting simultaneously. In other words, we say the body is treated as a continuum.Rigid BodyAs already stated, in Civil Engineering, we treat a body as rigid, when the relative position of any two particles in the body do not change even after the application of a system of forces. For examples, let the body shown in figure (a) move to a position as shown in figure (b) when the system of forces F2 and F3 are applied. If the body is treated as a rigid body, the relative position of A to B is the same as A' and B', i.e.,AB = A'B'ParticleA particle may be defined as an object which has only mass and no size. Theoretically, such a body cannot exist; while dealing with the problems involving distances which are considerably larger compared to the size of the body, the size of the body may be neglected without sacrificing the accuracy, the example are as follows:A bomber aeroplane is a particle for a gunner operating from the ground.A ship in a mid sea is a particle in the study of relative motion from the control in a part.In the study of the movement of earth in celestial space, earth is treated as a particle.

Why they are letters and numbers printed in the border of engineering drawings?

There used to specify zones on the drawing. Similiar to map ordinates to define a location. i.e. The feature is shown in C6 They can also be used during revision control to highlight areas of change with balloons or tags. i.e. B7 Feature remove or E2 Dimension was 365

What is battery limit in piping design engineering?

Unit plot plans are generally defined by imaginary lines called battery limits. Battery limits are used to establish a unit's boundaries. Unit plot plans show the location of all the buildings, equipment, pipe racks, and other items of importance in the unit. True north and plant north are also shown. The purpose of this drawing is not to show detail, but rather, the arrangement of various components to be erected in the unit.
