Even when his troops got tired and ran out of will power he got them back on their feet and reminded them what they were fighting for. That's what made Washington a great leader.His ability to make decisions in such a short amount of time made him a respected man, and leader.

George Washington brought exemplary character to both the presidency as well as general of the Continental Army. When given the opportunity to be made King, he declined the offer. Having just helped to oust a despot, he did not relish becoming one himself. He remained steadfast and did not waiver from his principles.
