I'll just give you some key points on the topic: -This was during Castro's reign in Cuba -The soviet union had been doing all these things for Cuba, so they basically asked Castro, "hey, can we put some missiles on your land and aim them at the US...just in case we ever need to use them" and you have to remember that both the USSR and Cuba are not digging the US right now. -So we are getting suspicious of Cuba, so we fly some planes over to check to make sure everything is doing alright, and what do we see but missiles? -We do not like this one bit, but luckily, Kennedy was able to get the missiles removed from cuba. -One of the biggest things to keep in mind: If they would have used their missiles, we would not be here right now. and imagine the state of panic that everyone was in because of this issue. hope that helps!

yes and no. Russia placed the missiles in Cuba for two reasons: Russia feared an American invasion of Cuba, and America had missiles in turkey that were aimed at Russia. Some people speculate that the missiles were placed in cuba so the Russians would have something to offer for the removal of the missiles in Turkey. Having said that, russia had no intention of starting a war, and in fact was more afraid of us than we were of them. even then, we were perceived as trigger happy cowboys, and keep in mind that we were then, and remain today, the only country to ever actually use nuclear/atomic weaponry against another country. needless to say, they were petrified that we'd actually use our nukes first, and that is why, in the end, they agreed to remove the missiles. an interesting side note: America agreed to remove the missiles they had in turkey, but they still had missiles within striking range of russia placed in Italy.

Well, if i knew that some dangerous people were constructing missiles, i would want to stop it, so he was probably scared and wanted to keep the country safe without causing too much of a problem.
