Muhammed had many wives. His first wife was 40 year old Khadijah when he married her at the age of 25. After the death of Kadijah he took 16 wives including 9 year old Aisha. Muhammed had a total of more than sixty women including wives, concubines and slave girls. Following is a list of women he had in the alphabetical order.

Aisha or Ayesha (alternate spelling) according to some muslims.

Others believe it was prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) first wife Khadījah al-Kubra, who gave her whole wealth and for Islam. One explanation could be that he never married anyone else whilst being married to Khadījah al-Kubra(the great), after the death of Khadījah al-Kubra the prophet named that year the "Year of sorrow"
